It was May, 1999; when some Pakistani troop infiltrated the LOC. After a brave fight by the Indian Army, we finally kicked out the Pakistani intruders. Later, the day 26th July has been marked as Kargil Vijay Diwas. Today, on the occasion of its 18th Anniversary, I am writing this small piece of article as a tribute to the Indian Army.
First of all, this Kargil Vijay Diwas is not a day of celebration; it’s a day of remembrance. On this day, we must show our respect to the 527 Army men who fights to protect our land, to protect us; and sacrificed their life in the service of nation. This 527 is the official death toll of Indian Army; but we all know this death number is not limited to 527. This war has killed more people then they were fighting on the border, it has impacted the 527 families. Other than giving awards and some monetary benefits, we as a country could not do much for the families of these brave soldiers. But there is one thing that we can do and we should do for them; showing respect to the profession and its bearer.
Army; an Attitude
It is not about the uniform,
It is not about the badges on their chest,
It is not about the heavy weapons that they carry,
It is not about the National Flag that will cover their dead body;
So, what it is?
It is an ATTITUDE.
An attitude that carries Nationalism,
An attitude that carries Discipline,
An attitude that carries Courage,
An attitude that carries Sacrifice!
Do you have it in you?
If yes, then you too my friend deserves a salute from me.
